PLACEMAKING IN VENICE
Connecting people to places
On the initiative of Venice Urban Lab, the New European Bauhaus 2024 Festival, held in Brussels, has arrived as a Satellite Event in Venice, in the district of S. Marta.
It was an intense and fruitful day, in which 50 people shared ideas, discussed and acted concretely for the future of the Santa Marta area!
With great intensity and enthusiasm, residents, students and young people from other Italian and European cities have contributed and collaborated together, fueling a sense of community and promoting innovative and virtuous actions.
From the enhancement of green spaces to the promotion of sustainable mobility and support for local commerce, many interesting proposals have emerged.
The need for effective and direct communication, such as a neighbourhood bulletin board, was highlighted in the debate as a way of making the neighbourhood liveable and lively. Thanks to the intervention of Nicola Borgmann, who illustrated the project Creating NEbourhood Together in Monaco by Bavera, It was discussed to connect and put in communication initiatives distant but tuned in the objectives to increase the exchange of knowledge and experiences of the communities of citizens by connecting the local with the global.
From early morning to late evening, a full day dedicated to the community saw:

Ideas and projects in the Hum.us space with working groups, community lunch and interventions and contributions from other organizations partners of the initiative!

Concrete action of self-managed garden care, from gardening to the realization of tablecloths for the community!

Finally, a moment of conviviality with aperitif in the Afghan Carovansera and live music by the Italian-Pachto group Sorang.
We thank all the participants, the design student Iuav Magistrale, all the project partners and the staff of Venice Urban Lab who have actively contributed to the day "Placemaking in Venice - Connecting people to places".
