Intentional Venetians is an initiative by Venice Urban Lab aimed at discovering and showcasing those individuals who have long chosen, or recently decided, to make Venice their city of residence.

 

This project stems from the observation that, while Venice’s depopulation is well-documented through demographic studies, there is an interesting phenomenon of attraction of new residents. While this is not yet a quantitatively significant trend, it represents a positive signal, especially from a qualitative perspective.

 

Through the stories of these individuals, the initiative seeks to paint a more positive picture of Venice, aiming to shift the perception of decline and instead highlight Venice as a lively, vibrant, and dynamic place capable of attracting people across different generations and professions.

 

The interviews, lasting 5-10 minutes, are designed to explore the reasons behind this life choice, allowing us to identify the strengths Venice offers to current and future residents. 

 

What emerges is a different narrative, which we believe is worth sharing and promoting, in the hope of contributing to a perspective of Venice as a living, vibrant, and dynamic city.

 

The initiative is ongoing and continues as a work in progress. We invite everyone to participate or to introduce friends and acquaintances who are "Venetians by choice"  helping  us to continue telling this story.
